What Is Bitcoin And How Does It Work?

Never heard of Bitcoin? You’re not alone

Are you hearing more and more about Bitcoin but have no inclination as to what it is about? Rest assured in the fact that a majority of the population don’t either. The reason there has been an increase in excitement surrounding the topic of Bitcoin and Crypto Currencies is due to the digital gold rush into Bitcoin. The surge in the last year has lead to bitcoin growing from $700 a coin to $11,000 as I write this.

In short crypto-currencies are decentralized digital only currencies. The have set amounts of supply like Bitcoin will only ever have 21 million Bitcoins in circulation and that will be achieved in the year 2140. New coins are added when the ‘miners’ are rewarded for their work. Please take a minuet to watch the video below which is actually two very well done videos to simply explain the process of Bitcoin.

The History

Bitcoin arose from a 2008 white paper posted onto a forum written by a false name of ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’ . Several people have claimed to be Satoshi but after a short period of questioning their story and intelligence do not seem to add up. Bitcoin launched in 2011 after several people from the forum worked together to create the peer-to-peer network payment system. Since then hundreds of other crypto-currencies have come about. These are labeled as ‘Alt-coins’ or anything not Bitcoin.

Follow up

Due to the various topics surround the crypto currency community I plan to write several articles here to cover the main points. Writing one large article I don’t feel would benefit everyone as not many people will want to build a mining rig or play the rise and fall of exchanges. Please stay tuned for other posts on this topic coming soon.

Something You Didn’t Know – Techmi’s Orphanage Support

Grace House Orphanage – Krupa Ghar

For the past three years, Techmi has supported Grace House in Mumbai, India. We helped develop a website for them to get their story to the public. It is extremely expensive for technology in India. In the United States a mere $10 to $20 a month for a website and hosting with email is not that much to take on. In India that is one third of Sweety’s rent for the orphanage building. Techmi has been providing all of this at no cost to the Grace House.

We tell you this now so you see that when you partner with Techmi you partner with much more for the common good. Techmi partners with several other places that do good things for people everyday. We have developed great relationships with life changers in our local community and abroad. Its just one more thing to feel great about when choosing us for your technical solutions.

Hyperloop the Travel System of the Future

In 2013 Elon Musk of Space X flaunted the idea of traveling through tubes in pod. Similar to when you send your check to the teller and a drive up bank. The air is sucked out of the tube creating a vacuum for the pod to travel with minimal resistance. This is some serious Jetson’s style traveling.

Hyperloop One is the company that is making the tube units. They have developed some working models already. Elon Musk of Space X and Hyperloop One have a contest in place for teams to build prototype pods and compete on who’s pod does the best. This event is open to High school and College students. You can take a look at the most recent competition on Engadget’s website.

In the original plan it is believed to be achievable to travel from Los Angeles to San Francisco, a 900 mile distance, in 30 minutes. You can stay abreast to the progress by checking HyperLoop Ones website.

iOS 10 Available Tomorrow – What You Can Look Forward To

iOS 10 is set to be pushed out tomorrow on September 13th. Just 3 days prior to the iPhone 7 going on sale. I have been using iOS 10 for about 2 1/2 months now as a developer and I have seen the changes that have been made through out the summer. I wanted to share with you some of my favorite features. If you want the skinny version of it just watch the iOS 10 video from Apple just below this paragraph.

The new messaging features are fun and interactive. From a new Emoji experience to hand written messages. There are a lot of little hidden features Apple didn’t announce so I will leave it to the Every Thing Apple Pro to tell you about some of these features. Watch this short overview of the iMessages.

Top 10 New Features

If you have a couple minutes you can watch this video ,in 4K if you wish, to get a head start on learning how to use the new iOS 10 before it is released tomorrow. Keep in mind this video was made based on the Developer Beta release number 1. I am super excited about the Photo app upgrade with the memories tab. The app can create movies for you based on time periods like “Best of 2015″ or ” Last Weekend”

50 Hidden Features

Still not had enough? Watch some hidden features that have been discovered in the last few months that were not announced by Apple. I know this post is mostly videos. Frankly, no one wants to read about features on a device you need to see with your own eyes. Good Luck and enjoy the new iOS 10.
